Galaxy Scientific is proud to introduce a new range of portable FT-NIR spectrometers with performance specifications that were previously only available from benchtop units. The QuasIR™ line of instruments offer a spectral range of 4000-12500 cm-1, a maximum resolution of 4 cm-1, a long-term wavelength repeatability of 0.05 cm-1, and outstanding signal-to-noise. These rugged instruments are also small and light enough to be easily transported from one location to another and are suitable for field or laboratory use. The instruments are designed to withstand repeated shock, vibration, and harsh temperatures. They can be operated at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 40°C, using mains, battery, or vehicle power. There are currently three models available. The QuasIR™ 2000 offers fiber optic based sampling, including a proprietary diffuse reflectance probe with excellent probe-to-probe reproducibility. The QuasIR™ 3000 has a large 23mm diameter sampling area for reflectance measurements of inhomogeneous solids, with an optional cup rotator to further increase the sampling area. The QuasIR™ 4000 has the same large sampling area as the QuasIR™ 3000, and also has a chamber for transmission measurements of liquids with optional temperature control from 20°C to 100°C. The instruments are accompanied by the easy-to-use and powerful Spectral Sage™ software that is suitable for qualitative or quantitative analysis.
